An entire village located an hour away from one of the world’s most modern and largest cities is said to be haunted. Pluckley is an ordinary village near London. The story goes that Rose Court was built by a member of the family to house his mistress, an unfortunate lady. She fell in love with a monk who lived nearby. She was unable to get over the heartbreak of the love triangle and drank poison. When her body was found, she was still looking towards the greystones. Now, it is said that Rose Court has an eerie atmosphere, with moans and groans often heard throughout the night.
Not only does her ghost haunt the village, the ghost of the monk she loved is also said to haunt Greystones after dying of a broken heart. He is seen many times. There are many such stories. It is said that visitors to the forest are terrified by a sudden, shrill scream that comes from within the forest. It is so loud that birds fly out of the trees.
